Al Mather's two-day Intensive Workshop offers students an opportunity to make a variety of unusual handmade wooden gifts for the holidays. There’s a wide variety of gifts to choose from:
Three or four assorted rolling pins
Biscuit/cookie cutters in either or both of 2 sizes
An assortment of spatulas
Knitting products including buttons, knitting needles, or darning eggs;
Colored and textured spin tops
Small lobster buoys for refrigerator magnets or key chains
And 1-2 inch wooden mushrooms that seem to grow in varied groupings.
Students can anticipate making at least three to six (sometimes even more) of these gifts over the course of this weekend. All paint, texturing tools, coloring markers will be provided.
Please note - Al does a lot of his work with the skew chisel and this course provides the opportunity to practice your skills with the skew while learning from a pro as you make some fun gifts. HOWEVER, if you don't have a warm and fuzzy relationship with the skew, we have some very friendly spindle gouges that will do just fine.
Two-Day Holiday Gifts Intensive Workshop costs $325 and includes coffee, breakfast pastries, lunches, snacks, soda and all materials. Please note that this course of instruction is currently only being offered as a two-day intensive.
