Lidded Boxes

Lidded Boxes

Prerequisites: Intro 1 and Intro 2 or approved equivalent experience

Lidded boxes are a favorite among turners. In woodturning, a box is not a square – it starts with a cylinder. In this course students will learn to design and proportion boxes with a pleasing appearance. They’ll make three or four boxes of their own, increasing in complexity from a flat-topped box to rounded tops to ones with finials; and as time permits, inlay procedures will be covered. Past students have rated this course “excellent - one of the best!” In this course you will learn precision turning and turning to a pre-planned design.

Turning Boxes by Richard Raffan is a strongly recommended text.
