Master Platter Turning
Instructor: David Lancaster
This workshop spans three days of intense learning. Students can expect to turn a 16” platter and up to four 10” inch dinner plates. Some limited texturing can be incorporated into each student’s design. If the student wants to make the plates and platter a set, we can accommodate that.
The wood for this class is valuable South American mahogany. It has been kiln dried, cut to size, and held in reserve for about 8 years. Therefore the material cost is higher than usual, but well worth it. ($170 for the blanks for the 5 pieces. This is about $12/board foot. Cost for three days instruction is $375; total cost: $545.). Skill level: intermediate to advanced. No beginners please.
Master Platter Turning costs $545; and includes coffee, breakfast pastries, lunches, snacks, soda, the use of all needed tools and all materials, and blanks for five pieces.
