Practice Sessions
Prerequisite: Intro 2

These sessions are designed to help students (most of whom do not have a full-size lathe of their own) practice and retain the knowledge and skills they have learned here at the school. An experienced woodturner will monitor each session to ensure safety, answer questions and supervise projects.

During the first session each student attends there will be a review of safety and general topics ranging from mounting techniques to lathe speed. Students will then warm up with exercises including beads & coves, facing and planing, using the bowl gouge, spindle gouge, scraper and, the skew.

The remaining time and successive sessions will be for whatever projects the student wishes to work on and that was covered in the content of his/her highest completed class. Students will supply their own wood or may buy it from the Woodturning School, we can supply spindle blanks up to 3” and bowl blanks possibly up to 14” x 6”.

These sessions are only open to present or past students of the Woodturning School.
Cost is $25 for a three-hour session with a maximum of 6 attendees at each session.
